Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Cycling, mountain biking - for me, that's passion, freedom, experiencing the outdoors, far away from constraints, obligations, and status symbols. Shifting limits and battling against your own body is motivating. Achieving as well as shifting goals.
What fascinates you about your STORCK equipment?
The technology of my Storck bikes fascinates me a lot. The bikes are very special, they clearly stand out from the crowd, are always state-of-the-art in terms of technology and innovation, yet timeless. The overall concept simply convinces me; they're visually appealing and of very high quality.
What are your major sporting aims for the future?
For me, the most important thing is to continue to improve and develop in my sport despite the fact that I'm getting older.
What has been your greatest moment in sports so far?
2009, my victory in the 24-hour race at the Munich Olympiapark. I was still regarded as a total underdog back then.
What was your worst moment in sports?
2014 in the Bike on Fire in Rieden. My first retirement (DNF) in a 24-hour race after 10 years due to mental weakness.
Your favorite competition, and why?
The 24-hour race at the Munich Olympiapark. Great track, fantastic mood and atmosphere.
Your toughest competition, and why?
Actually, all 24-hour events are extremely tough. Really tough were the races that were wet practically throughout, and there've been many of those.
Your biking tip for hobby athletes?
Fun and enjoyment should always come first. Assess yourself realistically and set yourself achievable goals.
